African Portal

Two female figures guard this portal. On the right, one made of wood, representing the vegetable kingdom, and on the left the bird headed Dakini shows how the kingdom of creatures interacts with the natural world, like a bird is to a tree.

I made this collage in warm earth tones to celebrate our African heritage, the cradle of civilization. In the center the great Mother above is entwined with her daughter, the earth, below in an eternal glyph.
