Collage of daytime performers and participants, 'Elemental
Solstice' event.
-
Christopher Hills, the founder of the Goddess Temple,
had a pact with nature that included a direct relationship
with the elementals of the land. After he left the
planet, he was concerned about this so I offered,
in spirit, to take over the custodianship. This event
was something I felt called to do as proof of this
commitment. I drew a 'Faery Oracle' card to ask, 'Who
should we specially aim to please with this event?'
The card I received was the fairy of 'unconditional
giving and receiving'.
- I
put out a call to the young creative people (in the
Bay Area especially) to see who felt drawn to participate
in a special event. It was to be a three-day offering,
where shrines would be created in the groves to celebrate
the elementals and to celebrate with them and amplify
the magical presence in the land. Between 2 and 3
thousand people came to the land to celebrate 'Elemental
Solstice' with us. Performance art, music, ritual,
fire dance, Goddess ceremony, all these offerings
were brought forth to share with the community and
with the magical beings of the woods. A number of
groups and collectives were involved such as Mystical
Family Circus, Tai Chi collective, Star Tribe, Aspara
Troupe, etc…It was a powerful and transformative event.
It marked the end of an era of ever expanding events
at the Temple, but many seeds were planted that were
spread out far and wide.
