When we were researching the material for 'Sexual
Secrets' we studied a vast amount of erotica and put
together a collection of Asian Erotic Art. My photographs
of this collection formed the basis of the material
for 'The Pillow Book'. A selection of the original
art was exhibited in 'The Art of Love' Kreitman Gallery,
Beverly Hills, CA, 1979.
- People
familiar with 'Sexual Secrets' will see many of the
original pieces which provided the source material
for my drawings in 'The Pillow Book'. A few years
later, 'The Pillow Book' was divided into 2 parts,
which became the 'Erotic Sentiment' books.

"Douglas and Slinger's 'Pillow Book' leaves the reader
feeling good to have participated even just by looking
at a book, in such open acceptance and celebration
of the richness and joys of sexual love. The quality
of the 139 color plates is good. A fascinating and
heartening glimpse of a way of life." Yellow Silk
Magazine, 1983.
- "'The
Pillow Book' is an exquisitely designed, printed and
bound book. The introductory essays are excellent,
providing a considered, informative and fascinating
introduction to the art. Like Sexual Secrets this
is a tastefully designed, joyous book created in the
spirit of celebration of the most intimate and giving
act which can be experienced between two people."
Llewellyn's Review.
