Sir Roland Penrose - Artist, art critic, art historian, and Penny's patron.

'The Four Little Girls' headbox was created as a gift for Sir Roland Penrose. Roland was my patron for many years after we met while I was at Chelsea College of Art doing research for my thesis on the Surrealist artist Max Ernst. I did set design and prop creation for his translation of Picasso's play 'The Four Little Girls'. I made this 'souvenir' for him of the 4 actresses who played the 4 little girls in the play, facing in the 4 directions, in the 4 primary colors. In the top of the box their 4 bodies are nestled in the form of 4 colored dolls. A glass of wine in seat in a mirrored cavity in the center, symbolizing the sacrament of the play's last scene.
